Apple rejects Microsoft Bing offer ‘without thinking’

Ana sayfa / Internet

In a major blow to the Bing search engine, Apple will continue to make Google the default search provider on all its devices and web browsers. Turning down Microsoft’s billion-dollar offer, the tech giant said Bing was “pretty bad” for being the default browser.

Testifying in the antitrust case against Google last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the software giant was working to make Bing the default search option on iPhones, iPads and Macs. In this context, he announced that they will pay Apple up to 15 billion dollars a year.

Microsoft even offered to share advertising revenue from Bing searches. But according to Apple Vice President Eddy Cue, the company rejected these offers. In fact, according to Cue, Microsoft was ready to give Apple the whole company. Apple still didn’t give up on Google.

Apple’s biggest point of contention seems to be the quality of its search results. The tech giant has conducted studies that found that Google delivers better results than Bing. Microsoft, on the other hand, has acknowledged that Google has an advantage due to its larger scale and data.

We know that the deal between Google and Apple is worth billions of dollars every year. But Apple insists it’s not about money, it’s about providing the best experience for users. Google also scores higher than Bing in terms of search quality.
